The aim of the University is to provide a quality education through open and distance modes of learning by using modern technological methods. The P.G. programme in History is designed to suit the mission and goals of the university. The courses are designed in such a way that it ensures updated knowledge in the concerned areas of study. It will equip them to analyse and historicise the current issues around us. Such an academic perception helps them to find solutions to the problems and thereby for the betterment of society.

The pedagogy ensures adequate space for a deeper understanding of theories and intellectual projections that contributed to the legacy of the disciplines through exposure to divergence as well as synergies in interpreting history. Upon the successful completion of the M.A History Programme, the learner will be:

  1. trained on the lines of methodological issues of hyetography in the backdrop of historians' craft.
  2. able to demonstrate their capabilities in revisiting historical knowledge using the latest tools and concepts through regress training on historical methodology.
  3. able to comprehend the concepts with a backup of concepts and theories in other disciplines of social sciences.
  4. trained on the pathways leading to the domain of professional research fostering the desire to write and rewrite historical episodes.
  5. able to understand how history reflects the socio-economic and political undercurrents of the day.
  6. acquired conceptual and theoretical clarity to analyse historical processes.
  7. able to make a critical spirit and to do independent research.
  8. able to understand the values of democracy, secularism, humanism and scientific temper.
  9. able to understand the dangers of ahistorical thought processes in our society.
  10. able to write competitive examinations for securing lucrative jobs in government or other public or private sectors etc.
