Master of Arts in Malayalam is duly approved by the competent academic bodies of the university. The students are expected to enjoy the flexibility of choice from an impressive basket of electives. The choice-based credit system deployed in the delivery of the programmes ensures the relevance of the pedagogy with the practices across the country. The programme is organised on a semester basis and it contains 4 semesters spread over 2 years. The students need to complete all the required courses for a total of 72 credits.

To produce competent scholars, academicians, teachers, media personalities and writers in the field of Malayalam language and literature.
To encourage understanding of the origin and development of the Malayalam language and its scientific connections to the Dravidian family of Languages.
To facilitate the students for interaction with the cyber-Malayalam.
To provide a broad vision of the historical development and the evolution of the sensibility in Malayalam.
To understand the compositional analysis in Malayalam writings.
To enable students to understand visual, print and cyber media.
To make them familiarise themselves with new trends in Malayalam.
