The programme is organised on semester basis and the programme has 4 semesters spread over 2 years and they need to complete all the required courses for a total of 72 credits. However, the learners can earn additional credit of 8 credit on successful completion of 2 courses under the Cross Border Discipline over and above the approved courses for the admitted Programme. 
The learner has to complete following courses:
Discipline Core (DC) courses: Twelve courses over four semesters
Discipline Specific Elective (DE): Three Discipline Specific Elective (DE) courses in 3rd and 4th semesters
Ability Enhancement Compulsory Courses (AE): Two Ability Enhancement Compulsory Courses (AE) which are Discipline Specific (DS) in 1st semester and Institution Specific (IS) in 2nd semesters
Skill Enhancement Compulsory Courses (SE): Two Skill Enhancement Compulsory Courses in 3rd and 4th semesters
Dissertation/Project Work (DP). 
The learners are allowed to presume two courses of study in any two disciplines as Cross Border Discipline Courses (CB), if they desire so, in addition to the lawful and required creditors.

The proposed programme, Master of Arts in Economics is duly approved by the competent academic bodies of the university. The learners are expected to enjoy the flexibility of choice. The choice based credit system deployed in the delivery of the programmes ensures the relevance of the pedagogy with the practices across the country. The Post Graduate Programme in Economics (M.A) has been designed to provide high quality, updated knowledge in the discipline of economics intending to develop the spirit of critical thinking with scientific outlook. The programme further intends to impart new generational skills to seek employment opportunities. The course is designed in such a way to help them to continue their interest in the discipline through independent research and writing skills in an effort to gain knowledge and to build up their careers. Programme Outcomes are:

  1. A learner choosing MA Economics will be prepared to address real world questions that have socio-economic dimensions and thereby pursue their voyage to research.
  2. They will be able to analyse the economic and public policy of a country and evaluate economic issues critically.
  3. A postgraduate in economics can pursue research and thus play a role in the development process of the country
