The B.A.(Honours) History Programme, structured as a 4-year course, provides learners with a foundational understanding of core historical subjects. Completing three years awards an undergraduate degre, while completing the fourth year confers a B.A. (Honours) degree. The 4-year programme consists of 8 semesters over 4 years, requiring the completion of 176 credits for the B.A. (Honours) degree .The three-year degree program consists of 6 semesters requiring 132 credits. Learners have the option to exit the programme after meeting the requirements for the undergraduate degree, or they can choose to continue into the fourth year to pursue their honours degree. As various academic disciplines converge, this programme prepares learners to choose any one of these subjects for their postgraduate studies and supports interdisciplinary research. 

To fulfill the requirements of the programme, learners must complete:
*Eight Major Discipline Core (MC) courses
*Three Major Discipline Specific Elective (ME) courses from two provided choices
*Four Minor Discipline (MI) Courses
*Two core courses in English and Modern Indian Language as part of Ability Enhancement Compulsory Courses (AC)
*Three Value Added Courses (VC)
*Two Skill Enhancement Courses (SE)
*Three Multi-Disciplinary (MD) courses selected from a pool outside their major subjects
For the fourth year, learners are offered:
*Three Advanced Discipline Specific Courses (AM)
*Two Additional Major Discipline Specific (AA)courses
*Two courses on Research Methods (DSC)
*One Internship / Project course (IC/PROJ)
This comprehensive curriculum ensures that learners are well-equipped for advanced studies and interdisciplinary exploration.
Towards the end of the programme, learners will be able to:

  • Ability to classify various types of historical data
