Towards the end of the programme, learners will be able to:
- evaluate the nature of the modern discipline of history and the different trends in writing history
- understand how history reflects in the socio-economic and political undercurrents of the day
- acquire conceptual and theoretical clarity to analyse historical processes
- understand the values of democracy, secularism, humanism and scientific temper
- develop critical spirit and the ability to do independent research
- understand the dangers of ahistorical thought processes in our society
- write competitive examinations for securing lucrative jobs in government or other public/private sectors etc.
